Velma A. Hale

Velma A. Hale, 84, of Sleepy Eye died on March 24, 2022, at Prairie Senior Cottages in New Ulm.

Visitation was on Tuesday from 4 to 7 and continued on Wednesday from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Funeral Service was held at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel, on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 11 a.m.

The was Pastor Dave Nissen .

. Private family burial will be at the Morgan City Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements were with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Velma Avonna (Waggle) Hale was born August 22, 1937 in Bitner, Pa. to Charles and Newanna (Murphy) Waggle. She moved to Minnesota in 1949. Velma graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1955. She married Donald Hale on May 13, 1956. She worked at Del Monte, the Delroy Hotel, Orchid Inn, Sleepy Eye Public School, Pietrus Foods, AUI, Sleepy Eye Care Center and Countryside Retirement Community. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. Velma enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking, cooking, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. Velma spent the last couple years living at Prairie Senior Cottages in New Ulm. She is survived by her son, Lee (Ann Iverson) Hale of New Ulm, daughter, Lisa (Allen) Riederer of Sleepy Eye, 4 grandchildren, Justina (Chris) Andree of Sleepy Eye, Dustin (Heather) Hale of Owatonna, Marc and Eric Riederer of Sleepy Eye, 4 great-great grandchildren, Nickolas Hale, Morgan Hale, Gavin Andree and Hunter Hale, brothers, Clinton (Alice) Waggle of Akron, Ohio and Meryl (Pamala) Kuelbs of Willmar. She was preceded in death by husband, Donald, infant daughter, Lori, parents, step-father, Leo Kuelbs, sister, Judith Evjen, brothers, Charles and Philip Waggle and sister-in-law, Arlene Hale.
