Our first meet of the season [a Tomahawk-Valley preseason meet at Mankato Loyola on Aug. 22] was a typical warm and humid day for August. The course had mud and soft, overgrown areas due to recent rain that made it a true CC course with the additional challenges, creating an environment with little energy return into the legs. Early in the season, this meet definitely shows who has been preparing during the summer for the season. However, every athlete on the SM-SE-NUC team has been giving 100% from day one during our practices. I’m so proud of what every athlete accomplished today — from Landen Thedens, who ran his best time ever today, to Emma Hagen and Raul Rodriguez who showed up and fought to represent our top runners well!
