We have had a great start to the school year! I appreciate all the support we receive from our parents, parish members, and community. We are so blessed to live in a community where education and morals are valued.
We had an exciting meet at Tracy on Sept. 4. Thirteen teams participated in races that raced the forecasted weather events! Due to impending storms, the Tracy school administration decided to combine the boys and girls in each race, creating only three events — Division C (Jr High), JV and Varsity races. Division C ran 2000M with Elizabeth Fischer placing 6th for the girls and Josemaria Martinez leading the boys with a 19th place finish. All of our Division C athletes have improved their paces significantly in the last two weeks.
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire announced that Landon Wendinger of Sleepy Eye was awarded a Freshman Honors Scholarship for the 2025-26 academic year.
It’s an old joke - or complaint - that students graduate high school knowing that mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell but without knowing how to balance a checkbook, write a resume, or prepare for an interview. Fortunately, Sleepy Eye’s On the Job Training program (OJT) has stepped in to fill the gap between school and real life by coordinating local businesses willing to host students who are interested in gaining work experience.

Cold weather on Friday, Sept. 5 mirrored the cold start by the SEU football team, which struggled to get going against the RTR Knights.
After successfully hosting Sleepy Eye’s first farm safety event and presenting at the Brown County State Fair, Kylie Fischer won first place at the Minnesota State Fair in the 4-H Youth Leadership division. She was also nominated for the Community Impact Award.
