Ready to start the Walk to End Alzheimer's are Sleepy Eye Care Center staff members, Jenny Fulmer and her daughters (left) and Jill Krenz and her son.

A team from the Sleepy Eye Care Center normally walks in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s of the Greater Mankato Area. This year, due to COVID-19, the event was different.

On Saturday, Sept. 12, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s was everywhere, including in Sleepy Eye. A team from the Sleepy Eye Care Center gathered, wearing their purple to show support of the cause, and held their own walk in Sleepy Eye.

“The goal is a world without Alzheimer’s and other dementia that rob people of precious memories,” said Denise Lienig, Life Enrichment Director at SECC. “This year we raised $415.25 through the sale of t-shirts, staff playing Bingo for a Cause, paying to be able to wear jeans at work, and Donations in Honor or Memory of a Loved One.”

Lienig said there is still time to make a donation to the cause. Donations may be sent to: Sleepy Eye Care Center, Attention Denise Lienig, 1105 3rd Avenue SW, Sleepy Eye, MN 56085.
