It’s ‘not Corn Days’ week

Any other year this would be a nice long article promoting the Buttered Corn Days celebration in Sleepy Eye.

Well, this week — the Not Corn Days Week — there is still a little fun to look forward to.

At 5 p.m. on Thursday (today) Sleepy Eye Brewing Co. will release a limited edition Corn Days beer, announced as Kel Monte Cream Corn Ale. (If you are a Facebook user, see Sleepy Eye Brewing Co.’s video announcement — it’s a masterpiece.)

On Friday, from noon until it’s gone, Chamber Board members will hand out bags of Sweet corn, drive-thru style on the east side of Schutz Foods parking lot. Due to a slight miscommunication, if you were expecting the corn to be husked (as reported last week) it won’t be. You can pick up a bag of corn, take it home and husk it yourself, cook it and slather it in butter, yourself. But, hey — it’s free and it’s sweet.

Then, don’t forget the Facebook Live concert by the Black Diamonds, Friday, 6 to 8 p.m. on the Sleepy Eye Buttered Corn Days Facebook page (after you eat your home cooked buttered sweet corn.)
