St. Mary’s has a new parking lot, just south of the school and west of the convent, constructed by Mathiowetz Construction. In addition, work began about 2 1/2 weeks ago on reconstruction of the Knights football field, with a crown built up with extra dirt from the parking lot project. Although he was humble about it, and others respected his wishes not to say much about it, Richard Mathiowetz did not deny that he had donated time and machinery to help make the projects possible.

After almost 41 years as the high school and junior high administrative assistant at St. Mary’s School, retiring Judy Maurer is looking forward to having the summer off for the first time since she was 18 years old. “What is neat is that I’ve been here so long I’ve seen three generations of families come through the doors,” Judy said.
“Any big summer plans?” asked the Inquiring Photographer. Frankie Trevino said, “Playing basketball.” Julia Helget said, “Go to the pool.”
