Rita Augustin, 93, of rural St. James, died on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center after a brief illness. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 to 7:30 p.m., at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye and will continue on Wednesday from 10 until 11 a.m. at Divine. Celebration of Life will be held at Divine Providence Community Chapel in Sleepy Eye on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m. The clergy will be Msgr. John Richter. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Saint James. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.
Rita Hauser was born on Feb. 16, 1925 in Sleepy Eye, the daughter of Frank and Angelia Hauser. Rita was united in marriage to Urban Augustin on Nov. 27, 1947. They resided on their farm near Godahl where Rita lived for 72 years. She had moved to Villa Maria Apartments in Sleepy Eye for the past two years.
Rita is survived by her eight children: Tom (JoAnne) of Detroit Lakes, Annette (Jerry) Krumrie of Fort Meyers, Fla., Bill (Mary) of Buffalo, Jim of Mankato, Randy (Jill) of Willmar, Rich (Beth) of Rochester, Marv (Jill) of Minnetonka, Sue (Curt) Leach of St. Peter; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Cornealius (Kathy) Hauser of Mankato; sister-in-law’s, Angelia Augustin of Comfrey, Bernice Augustin of Sleepy Eye and Irene Hauser of Sleepy Eye. Rita is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends at Villa Maria Apartments. She was preceded in death by her husband, Urban, her parents, two sisters, three brothers and brother and sister-in-law’s and nieces and nephews. Dearest Mother, you are in our hearts forever.
