Doris Windschitl 75, of Sleepy Eye, died on Nov. 2, 2018, at Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be on Monday, Nov. 5, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel and will continue on Tuesday from 7:30 until 9:30 a.m., at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel. Service will be held at The Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 10:30 a.m. There will be a Parish Prayer Service on Monday at 6:30 p.m., at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel. The clergy will be Father Andy Michels. Interment will be at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs Catholic Cemetery in Leavenworth. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Doris Windschitl was born on Sept. 18, 1943 at the Comfrey Hospital, the daughter of Michael and Mathilda (Sellner) Windschitl. She attended school at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs School in Leavenworth and graduated from Comfrey High School in 1962. Doris grew up on the family farm south of Leavenworth and moved to Sleepy Eye in 1964. After working for over 36 years at Norwood, Doris retired in March of 2007. She was a member of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth and Christian Mother's Society. Doris enjoyed painting, crocheting, and Old Time Music.
She is survived by her siblings: Marvin (Esther) Windschitl of Comfrey, Walter (Margaret) Windschitl of Sleepy Eye, Phyllis Wersal of Springfield, and Gladys (Jerry) Homan of Hutchinson; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, George Wersal Jr; niece, Marie Windschitl; great nephew,Patrick Wenisch; and a brother in infancy.
