Stanley George Portner, 91, of Nisswa, formerly of New Ulm, passed away at his home on Nov. 1, 2017.
Stanley George Portner, 91, of Nisswa, formerly of New Ulm, passed away at his home on Nov. 1, 2017. A memorial service remembering Stanley was held on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will be at the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery, at a later date. Memorials are preferred to The Marilyn Covey Heart & Vascular Center at Essentia Health - St. Joseph’s Medical Center. Stanley was born on Sept. 23, 1926 at home in New Ulm, to Otto & Emma (Klinkhammer) Portner. He was united in marriage to Petronilla Hauser on Jan. 9, 1957 at St. Mary’s Church in Sleepy Eye. Together they had 6 children. Stanley served his country in the US Army from 1954 –1956 in Hawaii. He loved his John Deere tractors. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family in New Ulm and going out to construction jobs with Randy.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Susan (Kenny) Jutz of Alexandria, Patricia (Dean) Havemeier of New Ulm, Joan (Randy) Oscarson of Nisswa and Michael (Cindy) Portner of New Ulm; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; beloved cat, Daisy. Stanley is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Petronilla; sisters: Miriam Portner and Florence Portner; infant son, Joseph; infant daughter, Janice.
