Jane Catherine Peichel, 86, of Sleepy Eye, died peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 29 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Monsignor Eugene Lozinski will celebrate the Mass, and burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the nursing home. Jane was born May 1, 1931 in Springfield to Raymond and Mary (O’Shaunessey) Stimpert. On April 3, 1956, Jane was united in marriage to Lawrence “Lerry” Peichel at St. Rafael’s Catholic Church in Springfield. The couple was blessed with four daughters and two sons, whom together they raised on their farm in rural Sleepy Eye. Besides being a loving mother and home-maker, in her career, Jane also worked for the Rural Electric Association, did secretarial work at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and also worked in Real Estate. After their family was raised, Jane and Lerry converted their farm house into a rural Bed & Breakfast where they enjoyed entertaining visitors at for many years. Jane had a sincere commitment to her church, her community, and her family. She was a devout member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, serving on the school board, CCW, and Christian Mothers. Jane was passionate about all life and was a strong supporter of MCCL. Though her passing was quite sudden and unexpected, Jane will forever stay in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Blessed be her memory.
Jane is survived by her son, Joe (Kim) Peichel of Corcoran; daughters, Laurie (Dave) Osberg of Eagan, Kathy (Scott) Gilbert of Scottsdale, Ariz., Lisa (Tom) Pelzel of Sleepy Eye, Gini (Steve) Wegleitner of Golden Valley; son, Jeff (Sandy) Peichel of Shakopee; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Tom (Trish) Stimpert of Minneapolis, and Dick (Bobbi) Stimpert of California. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lerry Peichel in 2016; and her sisters, Donna Morales, and Dorothy Karnick.
