The Indians volleyball team took a hit at graduation last spring — eight players gone. Coach Sydney Geiger said there will be a few new faces on the court this year.

“This doesn’t change the fact that they’re a hardworking, dedicated group, looking to get better each day,” Geiger said. “These girls know what it takes to succeed and we’re excited to see that transpire on the court!”

Coaches: Head Coach - Sydney Geiger, Assistant Coach - Sarah Hesse

Players lost to graduation: Brittney Dittbenner, Emma Fischer, Maranda Braulick, Sandy Flores, Martina Nienhaus, Alexa Steffl, Jackie Nessett, Abby Hoffmann.

Seniors: McKenna Strong, Morgan Klein, Alyssa Romberg, Maddie Tauer, and Stephanie Fernandez.

Players to watch

Coach Geiger said:

“McKenna Strong carries the most experience for us. We are looking to her to be a leader and be our spark to provide team energy.

“Emma Schieffert saw Varsity time last year and is an overall pretty consistent player in both the front and back row. We’re looking at her to continue to improve and step up to a leadership position as well.”

Top teams this year: Coach Geiger said MVL and cross-town rival St. Mary’s should be teams at the top of the conference this year.
