Last learning day is May 15.
Governor Walz, today at his 2 p.m. press conference, announced that all public schools in Minnesota remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year and continue with their distance learning plan. Sleepy Eye Public School will continue to deliver instruction the same manner as we have done the past three weeks.
Our last distance learning day will be on Friday, May 15. We will also continue our Tier 1 and Tier 2 essential employee daycare services and our daily food delivery and on-site pick up until the end of the school year.
We have been also instructed not to have distance learning on Friday and Monday, May 1 and 4, and instead use these days for planning purposes. I emailed Commissioner Ricker and asked for permission to continue delivering instruction since our last school day of May 15 is fast approaching and I prefer not losing any additional instructional days. I will let you know what the Commissioner’s response as soon as I hear back from her.
