Wesley Michael Gareis, son of Paula and Brandon Gareis of Morgan, is first baby of 2019 at SEMC.
Sleepy Eye Medical Center welcomed its first baby of 2019 on Friday, Jan. 4. Baby boy, Wesley Michael Gareis, was delivered by Dr. Harman Dhaliwal at 8:04 p.m., weighing seven pounds, five ounces and measuring 20 inches long. Proud parents are Paula and Brandon Gareis of Morgan.
“We were shocked to find out we had the New Year’s baby,” said Brandon Gareis. “We thought someone would have us beat.”
Wesley is loved by three older siblings, Damien, 14, Zoey, 11, and Ivan, 2.
Little brother Ivan was especially excited to meet his brother for the first time. “He wanted to hold him, gave him a kiss and even knows his name,” said Paula Gareis.
Grandparents to the new bundle are Suzanne and Michael Sorenson and Loralyn and John Gareis.
Paula is an art teacher at Cedar Mountain Schools, and Brandon is a plumber for Schult Homes in Redwood Falls.
