School Board meeting report
At their Nov. 14 meeting, the Sleepy Eye Board of Education approved the long-term facility maintenance expenditure and projected revenue plans after hearing from Tim Harbo, the school district’s maintenance consultant, for this summer’s planned new HVAC system for the elementary school gym. Harbo told the board that the system is estimated at $300,000. Replacement of the gym roof, at about $100,000, had been under consideration at the same time. Harbo said after meeting with potential contractors, he learned that the roof replacement could wait a year or two. Harbo said the HVAC financing would not result in an increase to the maintenance levy, as it will be added as financing for older projects completed.
The school board also heard a report from three FFA members on their recent trip to the National FFA Convention.
