Holiday Lights in Motion starts Thursday night!

The Holiday Lights in Motion crew has battled cold weather while setting up this year’s display, but say that barring any unforeseen circumstances they will be ready to turn on the lights Thursday (Thanksgiving) night. The display features 85 lighted trees with approximately 200,000 lights throughout Sportsmen’s Park. Their first special event is free horse and carriage rides on Friday, Nov. 23 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The next evening, Saturday, Nov. 24, from 5 to 8:30 p.m., will be the Chamber of Commerce’s Light the Night Holiday Event at the park. Chamber Executive Director, Christina Andres, said the event was a fun success last year and they’re excited to do it again.

“Light the Night is a great event for families and people of all ages,” she said. “The park is closed to vehicle traffic during our event so our visitors can safely walk around in the park to see the lights. We also have free horse and carriage rides and Santa Claus will be in a cabin to visit with kids.” Donations of unwrapped toys for Santa’s Closet will also be accepted at the event.

Andres said there will be overflow parking at the Brown County REA’s south parking lot, with a free shuttle bus to bring people to the park without walking across the highway.

“Light the Night is a way to highlight the great spectacle that Holiday Lights in Motion is for Sleepy Eye and a wonderful way to bring the community together,” said Andres.
