The Indians will have a rematch with the Springfield Tigers in Springfield, while the Knights will host Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart next Tuesday, Oct. 23.

Sleepy Eye Indians

The Sleepy Eye Indians will face a familiar foe in the first round of Section 2A playoffs next Tuesday afternoon when they travel to Springfield to square off with the Tigers. The Indians and Tigers battled each other in a 45-42 Springfield victory last week in Sleepy Eye. In the 45-42 shootout, the Tigers and Indians combined for 1,230 yards and 13 touchdowns.

The Indians were led offensively by Minnesota State University-Mankato commit Landon Strong. Strong led the Indians with 1,143 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns. Springfield will be led by the dynamic duo of quarterback Decker Scheffler and wide receiver Isaac Fink, along with Mason Rummel at running back. Sleepy Eye ended the season with a 2-6 record, although three of those losses came while leading in the fourth quarter. Springfield will host a record of 4-4.

Gametime for the Indians and Tigers is at 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Sticker Field in Springfield. The winner will advance to face the winner of number two seeded New Ulm Cathedral and the seven seeded Wabasso Rabbits Saturday afternoon, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m.

St. Mary's Knights

The Knights find themselves in midst of a two-game losing streak, but are focused on beginning to play their best football of the year next Tuesday night. The Knights carry a record of 5-3 into playoffs and will host the Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart Mustangs in a rematch of a game earlier this season. The Knights won in convincing fashion over the Mustangs in the first matchup 32-3.

Offensively for St. Mary's, quarterback Nick Labat led the charge with over 900 yards passing while eclipsing over 800 yards rushing, and 16 total touchdowns.

The Knights will face off with the Mustangs at 7 p.m. Tuesday night, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. The winner will go on to face number one seeded Ogilvie Saturday afternoon, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m.
