Avery Stevens and Sarah Reinarts are May Lions Club Students of the Month.

Sleepy Eye High School senior Avery Stevens played basketball and baseball throughout high school and will continue with baseball in college. He is an Honor Roll student and earned gold cords for graduation. Avery has volunteered for the food shelf, Holiday Lights in Motion, Food 4 Kidz and as a coach for third and fourth grade basketball.

Avery works at Mark Thomas Company and mows lawns.

Avery feels that playing baseball has given him the values and strengths to succeed in school, and has made him the person he is today. “I’m a pretty grounded person who gets things done. Self motivation is a big thing in anything you do in life.”

Avery said his dad has been the greatest influence in his life. “He has been there with me through the bad and the good times. He teaches me many life lessons; his famous words to me are: ‘No one is gonna give you anything. Go out and get it if you want it.’”
