After an extremely long winter and much anticipation, the St. Mary's Knights and Sleepy Eye Indians girls' varsity softball teams were finally able to hit the diamond—with a cold wind blowing hard—in a doubleheader on Thursday, April 26. St. Mary’s came out on top in both games.

“Good start to the season with two wins against our crosstown rival,” said Knights Coach Wendy Owens. “Good games were played by each school.”

Game one Knights 10,  Indians 7

Game two Knights 6,  Indians 5

“We came out strong and hit the ball really well in both games, but two bad innings with errors and walks hurt us,” said Indians Coach Sydney Geiger. “St. Mary's is too good of a team to allow them the extra outs. Overall, I’m happy with how we came out the first game and we know that we will only get better from here!”
