Local sixth grade students recently completed their job interviews for positions at JA BizTown.
Through their participation in Junior Achievement, each year sixth grade students in Sleepy Eye attend JA BizTown, a simulated city that students run for a day. Part of their preparation involves applying and interviewing for jobs they would like to have at BizTown.
Both St. Mary’s and Sleepy Eye Elementary sixth grade students recently completed their job interviews. Community business people volunteer to conduct the interviews—speaking with the students about their qualifications for the positions they have applied for—providing a valuable opportunity for the students as they learn about the world of work.
Sixth grade social studies teachers, Kathryn Serra at public school and Annette Lux at St. Mary’s, organize the interview day. They and their students will travel to BizTown in Maplewood on Nov. 9.
