Sleepy Eye 7

Fairmont took a three-run lead in the top of the first inning. For Sleepy Eye, Lauren Klein (2-3) scored in the bottom of the first and Megan Labat (1-2) in the second. Sleepy Eye was in a 4-2 deficit going into the fourth inning where they took the game with five runs.

Nikki Stoen (1-2) scored off a base hit from Klein. Jordan Rettig (2-2) followed, sending Klein home. Leslie Flores and Mariah Miller both got base hits. Jenna Zuhlsdorf stepped up to the plate with bases loaded. She sent the ball into the outfield and drove two runners home for the win.

Fairmont came back in the second game and grabbed an early lead in the second inning. Already up 9-0, Fairmont kept Sleepy Eye on the defensive and snagged three more runs in the third.

In the fourth, Flores (1-2), Miller, Zuhlsdorf, Courtney Dittbenner (1-1) and Labat (1-2) all scored, giving Sleepy Eye five runs.

New Ulm took the lead early in the bottom of the first with five runs. They widened the gap more in the second with another three runs, and Sleepy Eye was in trouble.

In the top of the fourth inning, Miller (1-2) scored off a base hit from Stoen (1-2, 1 RBI) for Sleepy Eye’s only run. New Ulm scored one more run in the bottom of the fourth and the game was theirs.

New Ulm rode their momentum into game two, getting four runs in the top of the first. They came back in the second for one run and the game was 5-0, New Ulm.

In the bottom of the third, Klein (2-3, 1 RBI) scored off a double from Rettig (1-3, 1 RBI) and Rettig scored when Miller (2-3, 1 RBI) hit a double. New Ulm gained four more runs in the fourth and Stoen (2-2) scored for the final point for Sleepy Eye.
