Local blood drive committee member Jane Fischer said the blood drive went well in the Sleepy Eye Arena on May 9—the first time they’ve held a blood drive there. “We appreciate the use of the building,” said Fischer. “And, John McGee, Arena Association President was very helpful in planning the use of the arena, and Chris Fischer brought us tables and supplies from the Orchid.”

The drive fell short of its 115 unit goal, receiving 87 units of blood, with 11 deferrals.

Anna Sellner received a first time donor pin. Jean Knutson earned her 10 gallon pin and Terry Hauser got his six gallon pin.

As always, the blood drive was made possible by many volunteers and donations. The next Sleepy Eye community blood drive is expected to be held in the new Event Center in September.
