The Knights showed significant improvement over their opening games of last weekend. The team seemed to be communicating better and players were making themselves more available for offensive plays.

In the first half, the Knights very quickly took control of the scoreboard, sinking shot after shot. Nick Labat and Cole Owens led the charge to put the Knights at a 40-26 lead over the Mustangs at halftime.

After halftime, the Mustangs tried to push back and retake the game, but the Knights continued to control the flow of the game. The game ended 71-58, Knights. Labat lead with 19 points and five rebounds. Owens had 14 points and six rebounds. Alex Woitas got 13 points and 16 rebounds.

“This was a good win against a conference team that always gives us trouble,” Coach Tim Milliard said. “It was good to see some balanced scoring on offense, which will be important as the season progresses.”

The Knights will play GFW at St. Mary’s on Friday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
