Jordan Marotz, Miss Sleepy Eye 2015, will arrive in Minneapolis for the Aquatennial Queen of the Lakes competition on Tuesday, July 19, and be whisked off for the first of many activities that will keep her and the other candidates busy throughout the rest of the week.
Marotz said that past Miss Sleepy Eye queens have told her how much fun the week will be and she is ready to find out for herself. “I can’t wait to experience everything at the Aquatennial,” she said. “I’ll find out if what they’ve told me is true.”
Marotz shared the schedule of some activities ahead of her. She’ll arrive at the Millenium Hotel on Tuesday, July 19, drop off her clothes and head to the Community Luncheon and the first judging session. A Meet the Candidates event is held on Wednesday, where Marotz will dress in a baseball uniform and tell about Sleepy Eye’s connection to everything ball including Babe Ruth’s visit. Wednesday evening she’ll ride in the Torchlight Parade. There is a Commodore’s Party on Thursday and Rockin’ the Waves Aqua Dance Party on Friday night.
Moratz’s week will wrap up with Coronation on Saturday evening, at the Ted Mann Concert Hall. While she would be happy to bring home a crown, Marotz said she is simply looking forward to the entire experience and having an memorable week.
Marotz just completed her freshman year as a pre-nursing student at SDSU-Brookings. She is the daughter of Todd and Jodie Marotz.
