MANKATO – Erna Josephine Scherer, age 95, of Mankato, MN formerly of Sleepy Eye died Monday, February 14, 2022 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Mankato.

Erna was born in Sleepy Eye the second of four children to Joseph & Stephanie (Schlegl-Kirsch) on June 3, 1926. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Sleepy Eye. She moved to San Francisco, CA area to live and work as a Registered Nurse. She then moved to Germany for many years where she loved to travel and photograph. Erna returned to Sleepy Eye and continued her nursing career.

Erna is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mary Lux and brothers, Leo and Bernard.

Arrangements are being handled by Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. No Funeral Services are planned.
