Edina - Joan Bollig passed away peacefully on May 6, 2023. Joan was born on April 10, 1948, to the late Charles and Sally Bollig of Sleepy Eye.

Dale Grundmeyer, 79, Peru, IN, passed away at home on April 29, 2023. He was born October 21, 1943, in Sleepy Eye to Henry and Bernice Grundmeyer.
I salute the Hollywood writers who went out on strike this past week but I can tell you that we essayists won’t be joining them. For one thing, the essay is deeply imbedded in our nation’s very identity (U.S.A.) but for another thing, a national essay strike would be like a National Husbands Day of Silence, most wives wouldn’t care and many wouldn’t notice.

Donald P. “Don” Zemler, 73, of Sauk Centre passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2023, after a three-year battle with multiple myeloma. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 5 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating.
Gerald Eugene Frauendorfer, 84, of Humphrey, Neb., passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Neb. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 1 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey with Father Eric Olsen celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 - 7 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Visitation will continue Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cornlea, Neb. Gerald was born on February 16, 1939, in Humphrey to Anthony and Anna (Vavra) Frauendorfer. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Cornlea. On November 24, 1959, Gerald was united in marriage to Virginia Heesacker at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey. Gerald enjoyed farming. He worked at Behlen’s Manufacturing a short time as well as Lindsay Manufacturing for 42 years until he retired at the age of 82. Gerald is survived by his children, Brenda (Tom) Harding, Pam Shanle (Greg McCloud), Terry (Gail) Frauendorfer, Daniel (Linda) Frauendorfer, Kenny Frauendorfer (Amy Allen), Sheila (Tom) Foltz, Becky Frauendorfer, Jerry (Jeni) Frauendorfer, Carla Frauendorfer, Travis (Kaela) Frauendorfer, and Russell Frauendorfer, 36 grandchildren, 44 greatgrandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two stepgreat- grandchildren, sister JoAnn Veik, five brothersin- law, and seven sisters-in-law. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Frauendorfer, son Mark Frauendorfer, grandson Quintin Harding, his parents, infant sister Wilma Jean, brother Duane (sister-in-law Mary Ellen), brother James (sister-in-law Kathaleen), brother Ronald (sister-in-law Donna), brother Harold, brothers-in-law Victor Heesacker, John Diedrich, Dennis Welsh.
