Students celebrate World Down Syndrome Day

Last week, as a school, St. Mary’s students dressed in blue and yellow which are the colors that represent Down Syndrome awareness. Several students in Mrs. Pelzel’s Kindergarten class supported World Down Syndrome Day by wearing mismatched or crazy socks. The reason for wearing mismatched socks is that the 21st chromosome, which causes Down Syndrome, resembles a sock. ”We are happy to spread the message of love, acceptance, and uniqueness!” said Mrs. Pelzel.

Free entrance to Minnesota state parks on April 27Minnesotans are encouraged to explore outdoors with friends and family

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is waiving vehicle permit fees at all 74 state parks and recreation areas on Saturday, April 27.This “Free Park Day” is one of four days each year on which the DNR waives the requirement for a vehicle permit at state parks and recreation areas.
