This spring the Sleepy Eye Youth Trap Team competed in their third season. It was their first full eight week season without COVID restrictions. Weekly shoots were held on Sunday afternoons at the Sleepy Eye Sportsmen’s Club Trap Range. The Sportsmen’s Club is a sponsor of the team.
Seven games were played in the Tomahawk East League over the May 20-21 weekend, including a Sleepy Eye Indians’ 3-2 win over the Essig Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon in Essig. Matt Sellner got the win, pitching 8 innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 runs (1 earned) while striking out 5 batters.
Wednesday, May 18, the St. Mary’s baseball team hosted Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial, in Leavenworth, and came up big in the last two innings for the win.
The Indians softball team hosted Martin County West on Thursday, May 19, for another win. Sleepy Eye 4 MCW 0 Katelyn Tauer got the win on the mound pitching all 7 innings, 5 strikeouts, 3 hits and no walks.

The SEU boys and girls golf teams both came out on top at the third and final leg of the Tomahawk Conference Tournament on Monday, May 16. The boys swept their third of three conference meets on Monday with a score of 359, to beat all other scores by over 20 strokes.
