Adrian defeated Sleepy Eye 35-8, Friday evening, Sept. 16, in Adrian. Adrian controlled the majority of the first half using a steady ground attack that ate up the clock. After the first quarter Adrian led 7-0 and Sleepy Eye’s inability to sustain drives and a steady pace of first downs by Adrian allowed them to score three more touchdowns in the 2nd quarter. Adrian led 27-0 at halftime.
The Cross Country team, with athletes from St. Mary’s, Sleepy Eye Public, and New Ulm Cathedral, had a good day at the Windom Meet on Monday, Sept.
The tennis season is relatively short, with teams playing multiple matches each week. The River Valley Wildcats played a string of “every other day” matches since Sept. 13, including a four-team tournament Saturday.
Deb Moldaschel Last Tuesday, Sept. 6, the Indians volleyball team traveled to Lester Prairie and battled to a 3-2 win: 24-26, 24-26, 25-16, 25-21, 15-10.
The River Valley Wildcats tennis team played in New Ulm on Thursday, Sept. 8.
At their home opener on Friday, Sept. 9, Sleepy Eye trailed Martin County West 14-0 late in the 4th quarter. A 90-yard interception for a touchdown, by Mason Myers with 4 minutes left in the game, gave Sleepy Eye life. However, the on-side kick attempt was unsuccessful and Martin County West ran out the clock causing Sleepy Eye’s comeback to fall short.
