It’s a tradition—each year the St. Mary’s Knights host a Thanksgiving weekend girls basketball invitational tournament. Teams playing on Friday, Nov. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 26 included Sleepy Eye Public, BOLD, Cleveland and host St. Mary’s.
St. Mary’s School presented fall sports awards for Cheerleading, Football and Volleyball on Nov.
The Sleepy Eye Indians opened the St. Mary’s invitational tournament on Friday, Nov. 25, with a big win over the Cleveland Clippers, 71-21. Indians were lead by Kadence Hesse with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steal. Brea Mertz had 19 points and 11 rebounds. Paige Haala had 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

The Eagles girls hockey team suffered a second 4-1 loss when they played their home opener at the New Ulm Civic Center on Tuesday, Aug. 15 against Luverne.
Abby (Hagen) Pausch was a standout cross country and track distance runner as a member of the Sleepy Eye teams as a high school student. Pausch and her siblings, also track and cross country athletes, were/are home-schooled by their mother, Lisa Hagen, who is the local cross country coach and an assistant coach with the track team.
