The Indians boys basketball team had a game scheduled at Springfield for Dec. 6, but it was postponed until Jan. 12. That gave the Indians only one game last week—a road game against the Thunderbirds of GFW on Thursday, Dec. 6—a good win for the Indians.
•Boys Hockey: The Eagles boys hockey team notched 3 wins last week. At Redwood Valley on Dec. 6, the Eagles won 10-0. Brandon Tauer scored 1 goal. Austin Uecker scored 1 goal and 4 assists. Home against Fairmont on Dec. 8, the Eagles won 11-2. Uecker scored 1 goal and 5 assists. Home again on Dec. 9, the Eagles got a 201 win over Luverne. Uecker got an assist.
The Indians and Knights both came into their Monday, Dec.9 matchup with only one loss a piece, but the Knights (4-1) had a couple more contests under their belts and came out very strong on their home court against the Indians (2-1).

The Sleepy Eye High School basketball program opened the boys’ season with an invitational tournament Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2 and 3.
The Lady Knights hosted GFW on Thursday, Dec. 1 and got 73-49 win. Coach Bruce Woitas said it was a back and forth first half with both teams playing good basketball. The half ended at 38-33 in the Knights favor.
The Sleepy Eye Indians girls basketball team traveled to Hector Thursday night, Dec. 1, to take on the BLHS Mustangs. The Mustangs may have defeated the Indians, 54-49, but the Indians had a special celebration anyway when Brea Mertz scored her 1,000th career point (she was 3 points away coming into the gym).
•Boys Hockey: The Eagles won their first two games—4-1 over Marshall on Dec. 1 and 12-0 over Worthington Dec.
