The Indians girls basketball team, the 2-seed in Section 2A, South Subsection, started Subsection playoffs on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at home with a big win over the Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Bulldogs.

The Knights girls basketball team played at Mayer Lutheran on Friday, Feb. 24 in a girls/ boys doubleheader to end their regular season. It was a hard fought game with Mayer Lutheran coming out as the winner.

SEHS junior Evan Thompson (third from left), a member of the New Ulm Area Eagles wrestling team, is pictured on the podium at the Section 3AA individual wrestling tournament held in Morris on Feb. 25. Thompson finished in second place to advance to the Class AA State Tournament on Friday, March 3 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. This is Evan’s 11th year wrestling. He said, “This season has been full of ups and downs, and I owe it all to the people around me. My family has been a great support system for a long time. Going to state has always been a dream of mine, so it’s crazy to think that it’s finally happening. It’s been a long time coming, and I know the younger version of myself would be so proud.” Sleepy Eye High School held a hallway walk-through sendoff for Evan Thursday morning to recognize his accomplishment and wish him well. THe NUSE PeeWee B hockey team won the District 4 Championship held in Redwood Falls the weekend of February 17-19. They will now compete at Regions in Marshall, March 3-5. Front: Bryce Winter.
