SE Baseball Association receives Twins grant for outfield fence project
The Sleepy Eye Baseball Association announced last week it received a Fields for Kids matching grant of $8,000 from the Minnesota Twins Community Fund to help replace the outfield fence at Eagles Park, which is used by youth and amateur baseball teams ranging in age from 4 to 54 each spring and summer.The fence project is much needed and at least 15 years overdue, according to the association.

36 attend challenged ride event
The Golden Rose Riders 4-H Club, volunteers from 4-H Clubs in Brown County, Blue Earth County, and additional horse enthusiasts helped host an annual ride earlier this summer for kids in the area with disabilities or challenges.The event consisted of learning how to brush, lead and pet a horse and feeding the horse treats.

Stark, Leavenworth bounced from playoffs
The Region 2C Tournament continues Friday in Sleepy Eye without the Longhorns or Orioles, as both teams were eliminated last weekend.Leavenworth, which entered the post-season tournament seeded second out of 13 teams, lost its final game 2-1 to Lamberton.

Stark rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the seventh to tie and scored twice more in the ninth to upset second-seeded Leavenworth 6-4 Saturday in Sleepy Eye.The seventh-seeded Longhorns next play Courtland at 7 p.m.
