The Sleepy Eye Arena played host to high school hockey earlier this week as the New Ulm Eagles girls faced off against Minnesota River. That gave sophomore Rivers Helget, left, and eighth-grader Kate Windschitl, right, a chance to play close to home. The girls, shown during action in the JV game, both attend St. Mary’s and play for the Eagles. New Ulm’s varsity lost 3-2 in overtime, while its junior varsity lost 4-1.
