St. Mary’s 5th grade boys have undefeated season

Hockey teams heading into Section play
The Eagles girls hockey team is heading into Section 3A play as the #1 seed. With a bye on the first night of the tournament (Feb. 10) they will meet the winner of the #4 WIndom vs. #5 Fairmont game in the next round—at the New Ulm Civic Center on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 3 p.m.

Knights over Indians in girls basketball
One month after their first match up, cross-town rivals, the Knights and Indians met again in girls basketball on Thursday, Feb. 3. The first meeting on Jan. 4 saw the Indians lead at the half and the Knights come back to win the game, 61-47. The second game Thursday night had the Knights up by 9 at halftime, and getting an 18 point lead at one point, with the Indians fighting back to keep the second half close, losing by 10 in the end. Madison Mathiowetz scored 44 of the Knights' points.

Eagles wrestlers take to the mat to promote suicide awareness and prevention
At their home meet against St. Peter on Tuesday, Jan. 25, the New Ulm Eagles wrestling team dedicated the meet to the promotion of mental health awareness and suicide prevention. The gym was packed full in support with many wearing green for mental health awareness or yellow for suicide prevention. Rolling Thunder youth wrestling started the night off, and it progressed to JV and then Varsity matches.

MVL downs Knights; Knights go on to three wins
The Knights boys basketball team suffered a rare loss on Tuesday, Jan. 25, when MVL came to town: MVL 70 SESM 62.
Lady Knights well rested heading into Thursday’s cross-town game
The Lady Knights met the other unbeaten team in the conference, MVL, in a road game Tuesday, Jan. 25 and came out with the 82-60 win and first place in the Tomahawk Conference.
Indians win most on long road streak, meet Knights Thursday
The Indians girls basketball team has a long streak of road games going, starting last Monday in St. James, Tuesday at BLHS, Friday at Cedar Mountain, this Monday at Wabasso and will play at St. Mary's Thursday.
