Services for children and families

Brown County Human Services (BCHS) offers a wide range of services to children and families. The primary goal of social services is to ensure children are healthy, safe and taken care of. Our agency works in partnership with other organizations to ensure families receive the support they need. It can be difficult reaching out and asking for help. It can also be intimidating if you are not familiar with the resources and services that are available.

Be thankful for all things

My family and I would like to say a public thank you to the Sleepy Eye Knights of Columbus for all their efforts in their recent fundraising for our granddaughter Ellanor and her parents, Caleb and Katie. We would also like to say thank you to all who have contributed in one way or another toward this goal for the Teddy Bear Drive. We are grateful to God for how He provides as needs arise. Ellanor continues to make good progress following the bone marrow transplant. We appreciate your continued prayers as well.

May EDA meeting report

The EDA Board met on May 24. I presented the financial reports for the EDA programs. So far in 2022, the EDA has disbursed over $96,000 in building rehab, business assistance/start-up, and sign and awning program money to local businesses in our community. There are also a few additional applicants that have met with me to discuss the EDA Program Applications and are currently considering EDA assistance for their business and buildings.
