RICHARD “DICK” RASMUSSEN

Richard “Dick” Rasmussen passed this life to greet the Lord on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. He was born on July 18, 1940 in Sleepy Eye to the late Agnes (Spaeth) and Art Rasmussen. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Margie (Olsen) Rasmussen, children Randy (Mary) Rasmussen, Tim (Kathryn) Rasmussen, Molly (Brad) White, seven grandchildren: Karley (Chris) King, Anna and Jillian Rasmussen, Hunter, Jake, Parker, and Maggie White, sisters Carol Thompson, Judy (Keith) Lange, and brother Don (Candy) Rasmussen. Dick graduated from St. John’s University in Collegeville. Upon graduation he was commissioned an officer in the U.S. Army. He retired as a Captain after 12 years of service. He worked in the agriculture business as plant manager for International Multi Foods, Minneapolis, and Vigortone Ag Products, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Throughout his Army and business careers, Dick and his wife lived in eight states and 14 different cities, recently moving to Canton, Ohio this past year. Dick enjoyed his family, grandchildren and friends and being involved in their activities. He also liked making improvements around the inside and outside of the house. Spending time outdoors was a favorite pastime and also golfing with friends. Repairing and woodworking were relaxing times spent in his work shop. Dick lived in Marion, Ohio for 38 years and was active in the Marion community. He was a former Marion Township Trustee for 12 years serving the residents of Marion Township. He was active in the Marion CanDo Organization and served on that board several times. He also served on the Marion Chamber of Commerce board and was chairman of the Chambers Manufacturer’s council for two terms. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Elks, VFW, and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul and usher at St. Mary’s Church in Marion. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, June 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Sleepy Eye. Inurnment will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Sleepy Eye

Lorraine M. Seifert, 81, of Clements passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023, at her home in Clements. A Requiem Latin Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2023, from St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan with a Rosary at 11:15 a.m., all at the church in Morgan. A luncheon will follow the Mass at the church before going to the burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Clements. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023, from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan. CHARLES HOWARD SCHWARTZ

Charles Howard Schwartz died peacefully at home with his family present at the age 69 after a long battle with lymphoma cancer. He was born February 6, 1953, in Sleepy Eye. After growing up in Sleepy Eye he and his wife Helen and children spent time in Minneapolis, Spokane, and Denver where he retired after 40 years with Burlington Northern Railway as a Senior Special Agent in 2013. He enjoyed being with his family, especially grandchildren. Charles was a life-long Twins and Vikings fan. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, golfing, and coaching his children and grandchildren in other sports. Charles is survived by his wife Helen, children Amy (August) Valdez, Daniel (Tammi) Schwartz, grandchildren Dante Valdez and Zachary Schwartz, siblings Richard (Ann) Schwartz of Mesa, Ariz., Roger (Jan) of Rochester, Judy DesJardin of Rocklin, Calif., Patricia Small of Roseville, Calif., Linda (Roger) Rehse of Santa Clara, Calif., and sister-in-law Marlene (Gary) Schwartz of St. Peter. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Leone and Nieman Schwartz, brother Gary Schwartz, and nephew Eric Lundquist. Services will be held at 2 p.m., February 11, 2023, at All Saints Lutheran Church in Aurora, Colo. A gathering of friends and family will be at his home after the service. Memorial contributions are welcome in lieu of flowers to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at https://www.lls.org/.
