Testing your home for radon should be a priority for every Brown County resident. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that comes from the soil. It is odorless and colorless and is only detected through testing. Radon from the soil moves through the dirt and rocks and into homes through pathways like cracks, gaps, and exposed soil.

PHN and Anytime compete to make generous food shelf donation

Powerhouse Nutrition (PHN) and Anytime Fitness of Sleepy Eye recently held a Food Drive Collection Competition for the Sleepy Eye Food Shelf. A total of 225 items, equaling 205 pounds, was collected and delivered to the food shelf. The “Pie in the Face” winner was PHN by a close 7 points. School Board organizes for 2023

The Sleepy Eye School Board held their first meeting of 2023 on Tuesday, Jan. 10, rather than the usual second Wednesday date as several board members would be attending the Minnesota School Boards Association Leadership Conference in Minneapolis beginning on Wednesday evening.

Lights sparkle one final weekend

From Sleepy Eye Holiday Lights in Motion: “It’s time to wrap up another season…literally… and we are seeking volunteers of all ages to help take down lights at the park and/or wind up lights at St. Mary’s School Field House. This is easy work with service hours available.”

Help is needed Saturday, Jan. 7: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Sportsmen’s Park and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Mary’s Field House. Sunday, Jan. 8: 8 a.m. until done at Sportsmen’s Park and 8 a.m. until done at St. Mary’s Field House.
