In addition to the items reported in last week’s Herald-Dispatch, at their Feb. 14 meeting the Sleepy Eye City Council also approved the application for an off-sale 3.2 beer license for the Family Dollar store, pending receipt of all paperwork.

In completing the required curriculum of continuing education classes, covering subjects including professional standards, legal issues, sales and marketing, finance and risk reduction, technology and social media, Fischer, of Mages Land Co & Auction and Real Estate, joins other top Realtors in the residential real estate industry from across the nation who hold this designation.
February is American Heart Month — a time when the nation spotlights heart disease, the number one killer of Americans. In addition, this week, Feb. 12 through 18, is Cardiac Rehabilitation Week. Just the time to highlight the Sleepy Eye Medical Center’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and how it helps patients.
Heather (Mickelson) Loeschke, social studies teacher at Cannon Falls and a 1992 graduate of Sleepy Eye High School, has been recognized as the Minnesota VFW Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year. Loeschke was nominated by Minnesota District 1 VFW after they chose her as their Teacher of the Year.
Isn’t it amazing! The Herald-Dispatch reported the estimated number of people at this past week’s fishing contest was 2,000 plus. The Pond Hockey Tournament the weekend before also had a great turnout and was quite successful. So, in two weeks these events brought great numbers into our community. My hat comes off to the Sportsmen’s Club and the Pond Hockey Committee for their sponsorship of these super events. Here we are in the middle of winter and events like these are happening here in our community!
