Deb Moldaschel Editor Last week the Dyckman Free Library hosted local author Katie Roiger who spoke about her recently published book, “Only the Brave.” The publisher, Fox Pointe Publishing, categorizes the book as a middle-grade novel, or as Roiger said, “it’s for tweens, but really for everyone.” A couple of adults at the presentation agreed, saying they’d read the book and liked it very much. “Only the Brave” is about a girl named Victoria who thinks she is going to have the worst summer in history.
Brown County REA Brown County Rural Electrical Association (REA) along with Federated Rural Electric, Nobles Cooperative, South Central Electric Association and Great River Energy (GRE) are holding a special EV-focused event on Wednesday evening, August 10, in Windom—at the Windom Community Center, 1750 Cottonwood Lake Drive. Submitted The Bridging Brown County board of directors is pleased to introduce their new executive director, Lindsy Ludewig. Ludewig has been a member of the Brown County community most of her life, including growing up in Springfield, having and raising a family in Comfrey, and having a career in Springfield for her entire adult life.
Three members of the Sleepy Eye Fire Department recently completed Fire Fighter 1 certification, from left: Dylan Wersal, Kyle Borth, and Nick Martinka. Each year, approximately 400 backpacks are filled with grade and school district appropriate school supplies and given to qualifying children throughout Brown County through the United Way Backpack Project.
The David and Angie Tauer family of Hanska has been named Brown County’s “2022 Farm Family of the Year” by the University of Minnesota. Tauer Dairy was established in the mid-1920s by Michael and Margaret Tauer.
