Sleepy Eye Arena Association loan for humidification system approved by council

The City Council on Tuesday, Feb. 11 agreed to give a loan to Sleepy Eye Arena Association for improvements to the arena. Terry Helderschedit presented the association’s plan to add a dehumidification system. The benefits of adding the system would increase spectators’ comfort and lower heating costs, as heating dry air is easier than cold damp air. Council members asked Helderschedit if the association would add AC to the system so that the facility could be used in the summer months. In total, the dehumidification/AC system will cost about $180,000. The council agreed to a $200,000 loan with a 90-month term.
