This year, the Brown Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) has three Supervisor positions up for election. SWCD candidates appear on the ballot for the general election which will take place Nov. 8. Candidates are elected county-wide, but must reside in one of the supervisor districts up for election.

The Sleepy Eye Medical Center and Sleepy Eye Healthcare Foundation launched a new fundraiser in 2018—a very successful Gala event, that raised $140,000 for 3D mammography software. The second Spirit of Giving Gala will take place on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Sleepy Eye Event Center.

There are piles and piles of dry bones in a dusty valley. Then the bones are rattling, and rattling, and rattling. Then the bones begin connecting—in proper order, no less! Lacey Mathiowetz is a senior at St. Mary’s High School. Lacey plays volleyball and softball. She is in concert and pep band and sings in Schola Choir. Lacey is in Minnesota Honor Society, serving as secretary this year.
