Sleepy Eye Federated Woman’s Club

The GFWC Sleepy Eye Woman’s Club met Tuesday, Oct. 18 at Powerhouse Nutrition in Sleepy Eye. Members were treated to a choice of special teas, a healthy shake, and a fruit/nut protein ball. Owner of Powerhouse Nutrition, Jewel Forstner, spoke about the products sold at business and other wellness advice.

Senior Citizens Club

The Sleepy Eye Senior Citizens Club met Oct. 14 at the Senior Center. Robin Handy from Adult Day Services spoke to the group about the possibility of having a community Bingo day. Following questions after her talk, the business meeting was held, led by Vice President LeAnn Hale. The secretary and treasurer reports were approved as read. There was discussion on getting new members.

Halloween fun in Sleepy Eye

•ECFE Fall Festival - Saturday, Oct. 29, 3 to 5 p.m. in the Sleepy Eye School parking lot. Kids will enjoy fall themed games and Trunk or Treating. Older youth will be helping with some of the games. Come dressed in full costume, but no weapons or scary masks.

Community Education News

November is just around the corner with a number of activities planned. But before that, the ECFE Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, 3 to 5 p.m. in the Sleepy Eye School parking lot. This fun event will be filled with fall themed games and trunk or treating by anyone who wishes to join in the fun. Decorate your vehicle and yourself, open your trunk which is filled with treats or prizes and greet the little ones as they stop by to see you. Older youth will be helping with some of the games. Come dressed in full costume but no weapons or scary masks.

GFWC Qui Vive Club

The GFWC Qui Vive Club met on Oct. 6 at Pat Stevermer’s home. After the secretary and treasurers’ reports, Marlys Lochner told about the Southwest District meeting she attended. There will be several district and state meetings early in 2023. Pat Stevermer went to Bismarck, N.D., for the Mississippi Valley Regional Conference in September, and gave a report.
