Welcome back to school!

Sleepy Eye Public School students returned to the school building on Monday, August 18, sharing all the great summer adventures with their friends. Yes, it is once again back to school time. Kindergarten started with two days of parent-teacher meetings and their first day of school on August 20. On the high school side, 7th graders reported Monday to go through their big transition day to the high school and the rest of the 8-12 graders reported to school on Tuesday.

Well, the changing of the guard has officially begun. We celebrated Pat’s incredible 50+ years of service to Sleepy Eye Public Schools with a retirement party on June 30. Former staff, community members, family and friends gathered to honor Pat’s amazing legacy as Community Education Director and teacher for District 84. Thank you to all who attended or reached out to thank Pat for her dedication and service to our community.

Summer Ag. in Action

The Sleepy Eye Summer Agricultural Education program has been busy over the months of June and July. Along with leadership and tour opportunities, short hands-on classes have been taking place at Sleepy Eye Public School.

St. Olaf College announced that Gunny Coulson of Sleepy Eye is on the Spring 2025 Dean’s List for earning a GPA of 3.75 or above.

Sleepy Eye Public Schools hosting Agricultural Education Intern

Agricultural Instructor Katie Emmett of Sleepy Eye Public Schools is hosting Meta Tewes as a Minnesota Agricultural Education Intern this summer. The internship is part of a State Teach Ag Results (STAR) program initiative, which is coordinated by the Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council (MAELC). Tewes is originally from Jackson and is studying Agricultural Education at South Dakota State University.
