Pond critters, prairie life and a ‘hail machine’ part of Bell Museum Summer Camp

More than 40 area children from first through fifth grade participated in immersive science and nature learning activities July 30-31 in the Bell Museum Summer Camp program, with hands-on investigation, games, creative projects and guided outdoor exploration at the UMN Southwest Research & Outreach Center (SWROC) near Lamberton.Activities connected students to research programs at the SWROC, including cropping systems, integrated pest management, nutrient management and soil and agricultural water management.

The following students from Sleepy Eye were among over 1,500 students who graduated after the spring 2024 semester at South Dakota State University: Ryan Hoffman, Bachelor of Science, College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Lauren Hoffmann, Cum Laude, Bachelor of Science, College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Collin Ludewig, Bachelor of Science, College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions; Madeline Jo Richert, Cum Laude, Bachelor of Science in SDSU’s College of Education and Human Sciences.
