June Yard of the Month
St. Mary’s School Campus was selected as June Yard of the Month. If anyone in the community notices an outstanding yard, they should contact Kurk Kramer to nominate it, with the name and address. Auditions announced for Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame in Springfield
Auditions for the Springfield Community Theatre’s fall musical, “Hunchback of Notre Dame,” will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 17-18, at Springfield Public School’s performing arts auditorium. All who wish to be involved on stage in some way should come during one of the hour-long sessions to sing, read from the script, and, if interested, complete the dance portion of the auditions. Auditions will be held at these times on both days: 3:30-4:30 p.m. or 4:30-5:30 p.m. or 6:00-7:00 p.m. or 7:00-8:00 p.m. (Those who are specifically interested in a special dance part should note that they should audition either on Tuesday during any session or on Wednesday evening.)
New education requirements in effect July 1 for some boaters in Minnesota
Beginning July 1, 2025, more people who operate motorboats or personal watercrafts on Minnesota waters must obtain a valid watercraft operator’s permit. The updated requirements, passed into law during 2023, are intended to make boating safer by ensuring people operating motorized watercraft know the rules and are properly trained.

Sleepy Eye Area Historical Society News
Summer is here and the Sleepy Eye Museum is open for the season. Hours are Thursdays and Fridays, noon to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The historical society has been working on a refresh of the museum and exhibits and invite everyone to come for a visit. Entrance is free.
