Seifert Quads featured on 2025 ornament
The Sleepy Eye Area Historical Society asked the Seifert Quad sisters if they would agree to have a childhood photo of themselves featured on the 2025 Christmas ornament — and they were thrilled to say yes. The year 2025 marks their 75th birthday. Sadly their brother Mike passed away several months prior to their birthday.
Dyckman Free Library News
Hope everyone is having a great summer. The library has been in full swing with events and patrons stopping in. We hit 3,138 checkouts for the month of June. That is a new high for us and I’d like to thank my staff for all their hard work. It really brings us joy to see the young and “seasoned” patrons using the library.

Support for Junior Achievement
First Security Bank made a $2,000 donation to support the Junior Achievement financial literacy program in Sleepy Eye. Junior Achievement provides K-12 students in Sleepy Eye schools with common sense, hands-on experience in business, managing money and entrepreneurship. Volunteers from the Junior Achievement program were presented with a check at the bank.
Yard of the Month
The July Yard of the Month is the yard of Marie Bushard at 509 6th Ave. SE. The” Yard of the Month” contest continues over the summer months here in Sleepy Eye. If anyone in the community notices an outstanding yard, they should contact Kurk Kramer to nominate it, with the name and address. Nominations for August are due prior to Monday, August 4. Party in the Park Thursday, July 24
Don’t miss Sleepy Eye’s own community night out — Party in the Park — Thursday, July 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Allison Park. The annual event is an evening of citywide togetherness, put on by our public safety departments and community organizations.
