The Sleepy Eye Woman’s Club met on July 15 at the Flo Dance Studio for a presentation by Samarah Forster. Club Members had an opportunity to watch one of her students perform a dance. Samarah explained how the studio came about and informed club members about the variety of programs offered through the dance studio. Finally, Samarah taught members of the club how to perform a simple line dance. It was a very entertaining and enjoyable program.
Sister Clara Marie Schotzko, a member of the Sisters of Saint Francis, Rochester, will celebrate her 60th Diamond Jubilee on August 2, at Assisi Heights.
The Senior Citizens met at the food shelf before their regular July meeting. Josie Rose gave a tour of the facility and explained how things are run. The food shelf is open every Monday late afternoon for people to pick up food.
Tomorrow is August…wait, that can’t be right. I just looked at the calendar and yes, tomorrow is August. We are hours away from the full “back to school” season. This means that confirmation, TREK (formally known as Wednesday School), and more will be beginning at Trinity in a matter of weeks.

As Sleepy Eye Lake’s beach has been closed for the second time this summer, members of concerned organizations are discussing strategies to lessen the likelihood of future outbreaks.
Safety concerns regarding electric scooters have risen, according to the Sleepy Eye Police Department. In addition to privately owned scooters, Levy Electric scooters were made available to rent at Sportsmen’s Park in 2023 and can be used by anyone with a smartphone. Police Chief Matt Andres said that the department receives multiple calls per week from citizens reporting unsafe scooter activity.
Summer is flying by, but there’s still plenty of fun to be had at the Sleepy Eye Family Aquatic Center! As we head into the second half of the season, our pool continues to be a favorite spot for families looking to cool off, relax, and make the most of these sunny days.
