Dear readers of the Herald-Dispatch,
I experienced an act of the “Minnesota Nice” when a gentleman helped me when I was broke down not far from his farm. This man was Chuck Spaeth from Sleepy Eye. I don’t even know much about him other than he owns a couple dealerships and that he’s amazing human being.

Rest in His goodness
Like many people, I took some vacation time in July and I am very grateful for that gift. The highlights? I got some much-needed rest, connected with friends and family, and finally caught up on a TV show that I hadn’t been able to finish. Netflix has just released their second season of Quarterback, which is an in-depth look at not only the role of an NFL quarterback but also on three men who play that position.

Mayor’s Message, another appeal: scooter safety and blue-green algae
I know the information below on scooter safety has been repeated by many people and in many different forms of media. Unfortunately, it does not seem to be getting through. Too many close calls have been reported. Law enforcement and the city are limited to what they are legally able to do. I’m pretty sure the kids on the scooters are not going to report to the parents that they almost got hit by a car. They are more worried about getting the scooter taken away than their own life.
