And so we will begin Holy Week! I want to invite you to participate in the most sacred three days of our whole Church year: Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Vigil. Nothing in the year compares with these three services. In these liturgies, we not only remember what Jesus did, we believe that we actually participate in them. We are there at the Last Supper and at the agony in the garden on Holy Thursday. We are there at the way of the Cross and death and burial of Jesus on Good Friday. We wait on Holy Saturday with sorrow but also hope with Mary. And we are there when Jesus rises from the dead, a new light shining on Easter Vigil - the central liturgy of the whole year. None of these services are strictly obligatory by Church law. But I can’t imagine not participating in these services each year that are so basic and receiving again our salvation.
