Angeline (Angie) Anderl lived life to the fullest for 100 years. She gained her angel wings on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. Angie was surrounded by family and loved ones as the Lord welcome her home.

Five advance to State Speech tournament

On Friday, April 8, the River Valley Speech team competed in the Section 2A Speech tournament at JWP High School in Janesville. Twelve River Valley speakers competed and those placing in the top six in their categories received special recognition.

Lemarr advances to IHSA National Championship

The University of Minnesota Crookston jumping seat equestrian team competed at the IHSA Zone Championships in Lubbock, Texas Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10. The Golden Eagles competed as a team and individually after winning the Regional Championship. UMN Crookston had a strong showing, led by freshman Clara Lemarr, of Sleepy Eye, who placed second in Individual Open Fences and will advance to the IHSA National Championships May 5-8 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center in Harrisburg, Pa.

Hoffmann to play volleyball at Ridgewater College

YES! Team participates in workshop

The Sleepy Eye YES! Team had the opportunity to learn from Brown County Soil and Water Conservation staff during a workshop on Friday morning, April 1, at the Sleepy Eye Community Center. YES! stands for Youth Eco Solutions and the Sleepy Eye team includes students from Sleepy Eye Public and St.

Local speech team members advance to Sections

The River Valley speech team, comprised of students from Springfield and Sleepy Eye, competed in the MSHSL 2A Subsection South speech tournament on Monday, March 28 at Fairmont High School. The team received third place recognition, earning 104 points, just 10 points behind the Subsection runner-up team from Maple River. Fairmont High School earned the Subsection champion title with 234 team points.

It was kind of fun being back in the office Monday morning. I can’t believe how long it took me to get organized to go there. I like to leave for work about two minutes before I want to be there. I must have spent 10 minutes packing up my laptop, notes and calendar, phone and some snacks. I barely walked in the door and turned on my computer in time for a 9 a.m. online staff meeting!
